Q & A Session With Anabella Gresty
When did you start playing soccer?
I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old, so I have been playing for 5 years.
Why is Andrea Neil your favorite soccer player?
I always thought Andrea played for the country with pride, and she always seemed to have that “never give up spirit”, I look up to her as a girl.
How did playing soccer help you get through your battle with thyroid cancer?
My soccer gave me a chance to forget about the needles, body scans and countless hours in the hospital. It allowed me to think about positivity, and forget that I was sick while I was on the field.
What is your most memorable game you have ever played and why?
One time in Spring League, I scored 3 goals, and we won the game. It was my best game ever (so far anyway).
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to follow my soccer right through until college and try to get to the highest level I can. I also want to be an artist.
You are a very inspirational young lady. What advice can you give to other kids about never giving up?
My family and I have been through alot in the last few years, and I really take my time now to enjoy life more in the moment, and not stress over little things. I love my family, and have learned that that’s all you have. If I had to give advice, I would say that if you try something in life, go for excellence, because if you start off by saying ”I can't do that” you have already given up before you ever tried.
