Residency claim third-straight win

Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency recorded their third-straight USL Premier Development League win of the week after a 2-0 home victory over the playoff-chasing Cascade Surge on Sunday afternoon.

On Canada Day (Wednesday, July 1), the 'Caps defeated arch-rivals Abbotsford Mariners 4-2 in Chilliwack, BC, before thrashing strugglers Yakima Reds 6-0 at Simon Fraser University Field #4 on Saturday night.

Residency head coach Thomas Niendorf named an unchanged side from the line-up that started Saturday's emphatic six-goal victory over Yakima. The only change saw Versailles take the captain's armband for Sunday's PDL Western Conference, Northwest Division match in place of centre back Luca Bellisomo.

Whitecaps Residency will conclude their 2009 PDL regular season campaign on the road, beginning with a two-match road trip to Washington State next weekend. They face the Reds in Yakima on Friday evening at 7:05 p.m. PDT before traveling to meet Spokane Spiders on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. PDT. Cascade, meanwhile, host Seattle Wolves in an important Northwest Division clash in Salem, Oregon, next Saturday evening.
