Youth
Youth are our building blocks, our foundation and the reason we leave legacies. Supporting overall health and fitness is one of the best investments we can make in our future.
Fitness for us means more than just good health. It also includes emotional, mental, cultural and social fitness. It means that youth are ready and able to make positive and lasting contributions to our community.
All of the Foundation's priorities build on or reinforce this mission and are tied in some way to youth programs.
We choose to focus on youth fitness using the vehicle of soccer. Sure, it's what we know and what we do best, but soccer offers a number of unique features:
- There are more young people registered in soccer than any other sport
- It is gender neutral
- Minimal equipment and facility requirements make it more accessible to a wider range of youth
- It promotes teamwork
- Non-contact
- Easily adjusted to suit different skill levels
As “the world’s game”, soccer has the power to engage families from different ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds – creating an ideal environment to practice values of respect and tolerance.
Gifts will support travel, bursaries (for financial assistance), program development and delivery, school based programs, camps, clinics, tournaments and the development and implementation of a new league for higher-level development.
