Whitecaps in Quesnel this weekend
May 1, 2008 Vancouver Whitecaps FC players and coaches will be in Quesnel this weekend to provide a challenging, focused and fun professional training camp for youth from the region. The training camp, which will take Saturday May 3 to Sunday, May 4 at the Quesnel Soccer Centre, is part of the Whitecaps mandate to grow the game of soccer in British Columbia and Canada. The camp is being delivered in partnership with the Quesnel Youth Soccer Association (QYSA). Youth ages six to 16, of all skill levels, will be participating.
Two former Canadian internationals and Vancouver Whitecaps, current Youth Director Dan Lenarduzzi, and Camp Manager Silvano (Sam) Lenarduzzi, will manage the camp, leading top-class professional instruction from Whitecaps coaches and players.
Whitecaps President Bob Lenarduzzi will also be attending the camp Saturday.
In addition to working with all levels of players in Quesnel, the Whitecaps will include a special Prospects program to help identify talented players in the region, and to provide those prospects with additional Whitecaps opportunities.
This camp builds on last weekend’s highly successful Whitecaps camp in Williams Lake, at which over 180 boys and girls participated in a sold-out camp.
Partial funding for both the Williams Lake and Quesnel camps has been generously provided by the TELUS Community Fund.
The Whitecaps and Williams Lake Soccer Association Camp are also supported by a variety of community partners, including Central Mountain Air, Fraser Bridge Inn, Boston Pizza, the Quesnel Observer, The Wolf, National Car Rental and Tim Hortons.
