Whitecaps Foundation Teams up with HUB International

October 26, 2009

On October 16th, Vancouver Whitecaps FC staff teamed up with HUB International staff for the annual HUB Gives Day.

On October 16th, Vancouver Whitecaps FC staff teamed up with HUB International staff for the annual HUB Gives Day. This event demonstrates HUB’s commitment to the local community, and as an important Whitecaps and Whitecaps Foundation partner, our own staff and volunteers were more than happy to roll up their sleeves and pitch in, despite the pouring rain. This year’s project saw dozens of volunteers work to reclaim land overtaken by brush and brambles, build patios and power-wash housing at the SOS Children’s Village in Surrey.

“This event is special for us as it gives us the opportunity to both give back to the community and to one of our valued partners,” says Andrea Wilkinson, Director of Partnerships with the Whitecaps Foundation. “As a significant community asset, the Whitecaps Foundation is pleased to participate in worthwhile causes,” she added.

This annual event highlights HUB International’s support for one of many local organizations. This summer, their financial commitment to the Whitecaps Foundation helped to bring the inaugural Whitecaps Women’s Soccer Series to communities throughout Metro Vancouver.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the Whitecaps Foundation will continue to support the annual HUB Gives Day initiative and commends HUB International for their continued support of deserving organizations such as SOS Children’s Village.

SOS Children’s Village BC provides a community-based family care service to improve and sustain the quality of life for foster children and foster families.  The goal is to make a visible difference and positive impact on the amenities, surroundings and atmosphere of the Surrey village and to make it a better place for the children and foster parents residing there.
